My son is 6 years old (year 2) and a confident reader. He's just finished reading the last of the three Christmasaurus books. He's started on The Danger Gang but refuses to read any more now as it's "too scary". We're finding it really hard to pick books that are suitable for his reading age and his actual age, particularly as he's a sensitive soul! Can't be the only one who has had a precocious reader so wondered if anyone might be able to suggest some suitable options, please. He reads before bed every night and I'm out of options now he's refused The Danger Gang!

The Daisy Kes Grey books are great
Captain Underpants? There is some violence but the tone is very light
Also non fiction?

I tried to get DS to read some of my old books (with mixed success) - Paddington, Mrs Pepperpot, Milly Molly Mandy.

Dory Fantasmagory! This is such a creative and fun series. Their teacher read it aloud in first grade (5-7 year olds) and everyone loved it. Here's the first in the series.

We have the same problem. Some favourites have been the Faraway Tree series and non-fiction books about various interests.

My 7 yo is reading her way through the dr Seuss books. She’s such a confident reader that when she reads aloud it’s super quick. Dr Seuss has such a lovely rhythm.

How to train your dragon. There're probably a few bits that your little reader willhave to puzzle out but that's good!

DD was a confident reader too. She also enjoyed the Warriors series - all cats!
