Short stories for young teens

DD is turning 13 soon, she has always had a high reading ability however, she is not a reader. She has lots of books but gets bored half way through and never seems to finish them. We were talking the other day and she said that she wished that there were short stories that she could read instead of long novels. Of course there are, I just hadn't thought to buy them for her.

She enjoyed the first three hunger games, but didnt like the longer prequel, used to love Roald Dahl, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants when younger so I think humorous stories will be a winner more than sober ones. In terms of topics I dont mind Hunger Game level violence as much but would like to avoid anything too raunchy and explicit. I'll be buying her the Complete Collection of Roald Dahls short stories but want to get her some others and hopefully this will spark the reading bug in her.

So my question is, what are your favourite short stories for younger teens?

Try short stories by Saki (HH Munro), Guy de Maupassant, Edgar Allan Poe, Katherine Mansfield, Oscar Wilde, O. Henry (WS Porter). I enjoyed all of these in my teens, and still do today.

Sherlock Holmes - good mysteries but no graphic violence or sex [unless you count the number of times Holmes 'ejaculates' rather than speaks!]

PG Wodehouse - hilarious

My daughter was similar, liked reading but nothing long and hard to pick up, and she liked a funny book, her favourites were the

Ally's World series - not technically short stories but short easy to read books that are funny and the right amount of friendship drama etc for a 13 year old.

Totally Lucy series, same as above but maybe a bit younger, the characters are 13, but it is a little more childish.

Stella etc series, same thing, short books that are funny but part of a longer series so can read more if she likes them

My Sister the Vampire series- easy to read, not serious, short books but a lot happening in them to keep them interesting.

Ursula K Le Guin "Tales from Earthsea". However, the Wizard of Earthsea books are not long either.
