Yotos card recommendations

Hi,
Can anyone recommend their favourite to cards for the 5 - 8 year old age group? Books or even music.

We just got a yoto and I'm a little overwhelmed at the choice and the sample clips don't give away too much sometimes...

Thank you!

The enchanted wood series definitely! Join the 'yoto community' group on Facebook, there are loads of people recommending things on there it's really active as a group

The enchanted wood - that's actually the only book set we have at the moment. The kids love it. I'm sure they probably know the books off by heart now they've heard them so often!

Thank you, will look the group up!

DS is 6 and loves The Famous Five, Hotel Flamingo and Roald Dahl on Yoto.

Toto the Ninja Cat and The Boy Who Grew Dragons

7 year old ds loves the Wishing Chair ones. I think it's a set of three. Revolting rhymes has also been a hit both with him and his little sister.

Famous Five, Wishing tree set & anything by Roald Dahl all big favourites in our house.

Heckythump1 · 15/05/2022 13:01

The Magic Faraway Tree is popular here, as is The Wishing Chair. DD also loves The Worst Witch and recently The Wind in the Willows :)
A lot of people rave about The Ladybird Audio Adventures, but DD hasn't been that fussed over them, despite loving non-fiction books in general.

My niece who’s 6 her favourite yoto cards are BfG, Matilda, Alfie stories, the mog collection and Tom fletcher - dinosaur who pooped collection.

Ladybird audio adventures are hugely popular here. They are really good.

The Book of Arralan! There are 4 books, over 24 hours of audio of a magical story. It's especially good for sensitive listeners: the "audthor" (audio author) takes care of the listener by occasionally breaking the fourth wall to remind them that all of the characters will be ok in the end, and "coaching them" through tense parts of the story.
*Full disclosure here, that "audthor", Morwenna Rose, is my wife.

Thanks so much, @handsonharps, for your post! I bought my son a Yoto player for his 7th birthday earlier this month and, after reading your recommendation on this old thread, decided to buy the first Arralan audiobook. Even with a collection of other audiobooks to choose from, Arralan was the one he wanted to listen to first! He’s since gone on to listen to all four books, even wanting to spend his birthday money on them, and is now very eagerly waiting for book five. Your wife is incredibly talented!

He’s begrudgingly had to move onto a different series today 🤣

Thanks for sharing this @RedRedRobin1, I really appreciate it.
We're hoping book 5 will be out on Yoto in the Spring, but if you can't wait, it is available as a digital download from www.arralan.com
There is also a monthly newsletter with free stories that you can sign up for there, and a weekly podcast if you search for Arralan Extra.

Aww wonderful, I’ll have a look at that, thank you ☺️
