My little boy will be 2 in February and I'm looking for some books to get him for Christmas and his birthday.

He's loving books at the moment and his favourite are the following, but please give me some suggestions that your toddlers love please. Looking for books that might last a while

The Gruffalo
The Tiger who came to tea
Oi Frog
Paddington
Spot the Dog
Dear Zoo
Fox's socks

Have a look at books to door to deals on packs of books, the have two Julia Donaldson collections. Handa surprise is my 2 year olds current favourite. I would say while she reads Foxes socks and Dear Zoo she is starting to out grow them. Paddington series was a bit too wordy for my oldest and she never really got into it.

The Hungry Caterpillar
Bear Hunt
There’s a Dragon in Your Book
You Choose
The Tickle Book
Poo in the Zoo
Giraffes Can’t Dance
The Lion Inside
Meg and Mog

My two year old loves this book at the moment. It’s not a story book, just lots of pictures that she likes to look at and describe what she sees. It’s really helping with her speech development.

"One ted falls out of bed" is my absolute favourite book for young children

There is a new book like fox's socks that I think is called squirrels snowman or something, got it for ds for Christmas.

He seems to like interactive more so at the moment as opposed to full story books so I've gone for lift the flaps, noises, pop up, puppets etc.

Danikm151 · 22/11/2021 21:00

My son loves the following:
Car car truck jeep
10 minutes to bed little dinosaur
There’s a monster in your book
Hey duggee the potty book
Dragon to the rescue
Noisy farm

foxgoosefinch · 22/11/2021 21:01

Peepo
Each Peach Pear Plum
anything by Shirley Hughes, especially the rhymes about up, down, in, out etc.
Other great authors:
Emily Gravett
Viviane Schwarz
Mo Willems
Allan Ahlberg

My daughter absolutely loves the ‘its not my book’ series, even now at 3 she enjoys them.

shivbo2014 · 22/11/2021 21:02

My 2 year old loves Goodnight Digger, Diggersaurs books and pop up peekaboo books.

CaramelWaferAndTea · 22/11/2021 21:05

Oliver Jeffers ❤️

DuneFan · 22/11/2021 21:07

I second One Ted falls out of bed.
Goodnight Moon.
Where is the Green Sheep?
The Usborne Farmyard Tales with Poppy and Sam (the board books with flaps not the ordinary story books).
We also have lots of vocab books like the Usborne My first word book about things that go, obviously tailor to your interests, ds loves vehicles.

AlwaysColdHands · 22/11/2021 21:08

All the pip and posy books

Julia Donaldson’s Toddle Waddle, and One Mole Digging a Hole. Our copies are falling apart they’ve been read sooooo much

MrsLeclerc · 22/11/2021 21:09

DS loves:
Owl babies
Monkey Puzzle
Stick Man
There’s a monster in my book
All the ‘That’s not my…’ ones

There’s a Spot starts nursery book that’s lovely for gearing up to starting nursery.
Also Pirate Pete’s Potty book and the Hey Duggee book are helpful for getting them talking about potty training. I also like the Hey Duggee brushing your teeth book.

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 22/11/2021 21:11

My big shouting day is a firm favourite here. Plus giraffes can’t dance and elephant me, dogs don’t do ballet and ALL the Julia Donaldson books Grin

Also good are the Todd parr books about families / feelings etc simple pictures and bright colours and you can put your own narrative over them

Mumtobe89 · 01/12/2021 16:34

My son enjoys:
Pip and Posy
Yawn by Patricia Hegarty
Postman bear, fox's socks, rabbits nap etc
Maisy books

eddiemairswife · 01/12/2021 16:56
