Picture books about trains

Hi all, my 20 month old little girl is train mad - 'choo choo' is her most used word! Can anyone recommend any nice picture books about trains? I know there is always the option of Thomas the Tank Engine but they are probably a bit wordy for her at the moment. Thanks!

I can't think of any specificly but I am sure there are Usborne or DK books that are 'My Big Book of Trains' type of thing. Lots of pictures, not much words.

By the way...the original Thomas books are sooooooo dull.

The little red train series
Oh yes, this

The original Thomas books are the best. The more modern ones are godawful tripe and I wouldn't buy them for my boys. But I come from a family of steam enthusiasts so there's a reason for that! The originals have some nuggets of technical and historically accurate detail which the newer versions don't, so they're a bit more interesting.

The Thomas stories are deathly dull but my two loved them (sadly) although probably not at 20 months to be fair. Agree the Usborne books are great - especially the lift the flap ones where you can look inside the trains.

My son loved 'where do steam trains sleep at night?'

My boys loved trains, 100% agree with all PP. avoid Thomas, all very dull
Buy the entire Little Red train series. So cute and well written
