DD can’t find any one who shares her interest. Are there any other Y7 who like them?

There are two fan clubs.!! Friends of the chalet school and new chalet club. newsletters and hours down an internet rabbit hole.

DD2 does. She loves the filler books too. She's been reading them since about year 5 and is now 6th form.

Oh good! She’s not the only one!
I’m perhaps a bit over protective over Internet forums but I think that’s the way forward. She’s very sensible (not the type to fall in a lake or off a mountainside in the middle of the night).

I am in Chalet School groups on FB, and when/if she is on there, she would be made very welcome.

I loved these and still have a box of them! No one else I knew read them Sad Glad your daughter is enjoying them.

What is the best one to start with? DD is year 6.

MissyB1 · 12/03/2021 21:22

Get her to join the Chalet School sales and wants fb page - or you join for her. Will help to build her collection.

I'd say the best to start with is probably School at the Chalet as it gives the beginning. However it does take a while to get moving, so if you want one that goes more straight in, but is still an early story, try Princess. It was my first and is a very good introduction.

Thank you @MargaretThursday. My DD loved Thursday's Child by the way Smile

Thursday's Child (and Far to Go) were in front of me (having just been read by my dd) when I was looking for a new username Grin

en0la · 12/03/2021 22:58

I loved them but they haven't aged well unfortunately.

I have a box in the garage, was looking on the sales group, some of them are going for £25?! That's crazy. Still wouldn't sell them though!

FeelingForced · 10/04/2021 17:55

Yes, my DD loves them! There was a whole year when those were all she would read. She was about 9 when she started with them.

She began with Exile, since she was going through a WW2 book phase at the time, then went to the beginning of the series and read her way through. Luckily I have most of them from my childhood, Armadas though.

Ah, I used to love these when I started secondary. I borrowed (I think ?) all 54 of them from the school library over time Smile
