It might be time to introduce some slim chapter books, like the Sophie books by Dick King Smith.

We've recently started chapter books at night and it's going down really well with DS aged 5.

Rabbit and Bear series
Winnie the Pooh series (DH and I think these are utterly rubbish but DS loves them)
Some Roald Dahl
Magic Faraway Tree

Oh the Owl Who was afraid of the dark and also The Snowman are also recent successes
