Bettany/Maynard family on lock down.

So how would Joey and co cope with a lockdown?

Has she left the trips at school so they can concentrate on school work or has the chalet school closed down? What happens in Anna or the coadjutor decide that they need to leave to look after their own families? How much online schooling is taking place and how much time is spent on sheets and pillowcase parties?

I assume the boys are all home as their schools will have closed down.

Jack is likely to be pretty busy, and most likely has self isolated up at the San which is busier than ever given their almost 100 years of respiratory disease experience.

Well the school would close down so Joey would take in 47 girls who couldn't get home ...

And obviously neither Anna nor the coadjutor would consider leaving without each finding a relative or a former Chalet School girl fallen on hard times (recently arrived in the area in need of a job) to replace them.

The Russells, with the help of friends in the government, would have commandeered a military base for their exclusive use.

Boys might not be home if they couldn't get a flight out early enough.

I would imagine that Joey would have to self-isolate on Jack's orders. She would sigh about the restrictions (and make sure she does her hour exercise) and send Len and Anna out to get what she needs.

Robin would have to fly back from Canada (courtesy of a friend with a private plane, of course,) to nurse her.

Joey would declare herself perfectly fit after two days in isolation.

Robin, OTOH, would have caught the virus at the airport in Paris. Complications, slow decline. Invalided in her room for many, many years afterwards. Attended only by the Maynard daughter who had polio (Phil?) because she'd obviously be immune to anything else.

Yes, jack deciding to put Joey in complete isolation and Robin flying in from Canada to look after her makes so much sense.

Len will now be doing her A levels online while looking after her mother (who will get another book out of this experience so it's all to the good) and all 55 younger siblings and adopted cousins.

And of course Robin will die. Despite Joey's children collecting under the window to sing 'the red Sarafan'. For generations people will wonder why that song did not hold its magical powers into the next generation.

Daisy, however, will decide that she should actually use her medical degree and will move into the san leaving her children with phoebe/biddy/Grizel and all the doctors wives. Who were once teachers so are totally up for the challenge of home educating the children who they had previously sent to be weekly borders from the age of 5/6.
