Books to read to sensitive 7 year at bedtime

Am after some recommendations for books to read to DS1 who's 7. The last couple of months he's gone through a phase of being scared about going to sleep at night for one reason and another.

He loves the beast quest books for example, but recently has been having bad dreams about creatures and beasts etc and then lies awake the next night worrying about the same dream happening again! Like wise even some of the Ronald Dahl books worry him as so many seem to involve children losing parents, for example.

I know it's not all to do with the books and that he's a deep thinker and very sensitive which aren't bad things, but at the same time don't want him lying awake all night.

Am hoping we can re-introduce his current favourites in a little while but just need something that he'll enjoy, and that's not 'babyish' in the meantime, but lays off the elements of peril, scary mythical creatures and children losing parents...

the narwhal and jelly series should be ok (its all about their adventures in the sea)

That could be a good choice - him and his younger brother used to absolutely love octonauts when they were younger so these books might do just the job. Thank you Smile
