I had a book of Irish folklore tales as a child.

Of course, the Irish know just how malevolent the Little Folk such as leprechauns can really be.

It's interesting to note that fairies have a much more gender-neutral (and malicious) origin then their modern, female, pretty dress and wings and friendly image.

The older fairy stories are better than the modern ones, certainly, More bite to them (sometimes literally 😀)
