Hey, I want to buy some books for my baby now she's turned 1 and taking a keen interest in some already. What are the best books for this age range? I've got 'tiger came for tea' 'hungry caterpillar' and 'going on a bear hunt' any more suggestions thanks

DS, much younger at 5 months, really likes the Mr men books. I think it's because the pictures are quite bold

Ten little fingers and ten little toes ❤ both of mine love it, and it's got a lovely message.
Also agree with "that's not my.." and 10 little dinosaurs.

There are some lovely Leo Lionni books - the illustrations are beautiful. "A colour of his own" and "Swimmy" are both really nice.

"The Storm Whale" and "Grandma's Island" by Benji Davies.

"Odd Dog Out" and "Grrrr" by Rob Biddulph.

At that age it was Dear Zoo, That's not my dragon, Postman Bear, Hide and Seek Pig, Meg and Mog, and Goodnight Moon. All had to be board books to survive.

We still read Goodnight Moon (he's 4) because I've never been able to answer the questions. Who is the quiet old lady? What's going on with those bears? Who else lived in the house? Etc.

At that age and even now my daughter loved choosing books from the library.

Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson.
Peace At Last by Jill Murphy.
Also other books from the Large Family series.

One of my favorites is a book called “Slinky Malinky” about a ridiculously mischievous black cat. It can be quite a tongue-twister!
But I've read and heard from elementary school teachers that the best books for babies to learn literacy, speaking, sounds, words and so on are books written by Sandra Boynton. We have several of her books and our baby loves them! She has been writing books for 30 years so there are lots to pick from. Some of our favs. are:
Fifteen Animals
The Going to Bed Book
But Not the Hippopotamus

After all, you can download or buy some audiobooks like "Mr. Popper's Penguins" or "Worm and farmer" for your baby from Audible, Fidibo, and Spotify.
