What next after the Twighlight series for DD 11?

She's devouring books at the moment. Recently read and loved The girl in the window. Night speakers, The Extraordinary Colours of Auden Dare, Eliza Rose, Fire spell..
But she absolutely loved twighlight. Any more books along a similar theme or different books but for girls aged 11-13?

Thanks in advance

Hunger games? Divergent series?

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 03/03/2019 15:22

The Lie Tree. The Sea of Trolls Trilogy

stirling · 03/03/2019 17:47

Thanks, she's read lie tree. Hunger games on the way. Will look up other two

Vampire academy could be a go er?

There is some lightly mentioned sex, ( his chest) but not graphic

They do talk about an ecstatic feeling when they 'feed' but that is about it

QueenMabby · 03/03/2019 17:52

Fallen by Lauren Kate? Not vampires but angels and good/evil etc. Set in a school.

HalfBloodPrincess · 03/03/2019 17:55

Stephanie Meyer wrote another book called the host. It’s suprisingly good!

Maze runner series

ourkidmolly · 03/03/2019 18:00

My dd also consumed by Twilight. She's enjoyed some of the Sophie McKenzie and Frozen Charlotte series.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 03/03/2019 18:01

Ruby Redfort series is good. Some older fantasy/adapted fairy tales eg Beauty by Robin McKinley and The Tower Room by Adele Geras might intrigue her.

TwigTheWonderKid · 03/03/2019 18:22

What exactly do you mean when you say "for girls?"

wobblebot · 03/03/2019 18:23

Definitely the divergent series!!

ourkidmolly · 03/03/2019 18:25

@TwigTheWonderKid
Presumably she means someone born with a vulva?

mary81 · 03/03/2019 18:28

Night School, by CJ Daugherty

bakingcupcakes · 03/03/2019 18:34

Age of legends trilogy by Kelley Armstrong. There's quite a few Kelley Armstrong books aimed at young teens that are in a similar vein to the Twilight series.

Bananarama12 · 03/03/2019 18:39

The infernal devices, The doomspell trilogy, hush hush

Reaa · 03/03/2019 19:03

Has she read the Alex rider series yet?

AlmostStace · 03/03/2019 19:20

The Fablehaven series is excellent.

bethfreyaisaac · 03/03/2019 19:24

House of Night series by PC and Kristen Cast. Loved it when I was around that age!

Stillabitemo · 03/03/2019 19:41

Seconding recommendations for the house of night. Also the mortal instruments books

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 03/03/2019 19:44

The wolves of mercy falls series by Maggie Steifvater was very twilight-esque . Quiet bookish girl falls for boy who transforms into a wolf, all very dreamy and romantic. There's some very non-explicit sex when he sleeps over though, only slightly more than in twilight

TwigTheWonderKid · 03/03/2019 20:28

@ourkidmolly yeah, I know what a girl is (being one myself and all). Just wondered what OP meant re books "for girls".

My DD loved the Skullduggery Pleasant books at that age. They have a strong female protagonist but they certainly aren't "girly", if that's what you are after.

Haypanky · 03/03/2019 20:51

Garth Nix's trilogy is really good. Lirael etc

stirling · 04/03/2019 07:57

Oh excellent, so many brilliant recommendations of which I know none. Thank you so much everyone

Ps I mentioned books for girls because she won't read DS's recommended stuff...
