Hi all
Wondering if you can help.

I'm going to a baby shower and we have to get a book as a present and I have no idea what book to get? Any help would be appreciated:)

Thank you in advance!

Loads of choice! Pick a book you liked as a child
If you can’t thank then go for a classic like hungry caterpillar, dear zoo, peepo, funny bones, the jolly postman etc
Anything Julia Donaldson like room on the broom, stick man, foxes socks, postman bear
I’d go for something that you can read for years rather than little baby book

Peepo

Each peach pear plum

The gruffalo

Kipper

The new Oliver Jeffers book “Here We Are” is wonderful and perfect for this x

Little Miss Busy Surviving Motherhood

The Unmumsy Mum Diaries

Or kids books:
Where’s my cow
The smartest giant in town
Ten little dinosaurs
Guess how much I love you.

Oh and anything with Oliver Jeffers on. I love him so much.

Actually just remembered

‘It’s a wonderful world’ - book based on the song and lovely - perfect for any age

For the child or parent? For parent I'd recommend 'How not to be the perfect mother' by Libby Purves or maybe Holly McNish's nobody told me. For child those treasury books with lots of snippets in are nice - you can get puffin treasury for babies and toddlers. Or Shirley Hughes Alfie anthology. Or just something you enjoyed. I think a lot of people might do Julia Donaldson so might steer clear for that reason although she is great - we had three gifted copies of stick man at one point!

My friend has just bought our baby Dr.Seuss' 'Oh the places you'll go' and it's an amazing story that will be useful for them throughout all their life.

Oh just thought - what about this www.amazon.co.uk/Meet-Parents-Peter-Bently/dp/1481414836?tag=mumsnetforum-21

'Nothing' - Mick Inkpen (tugs at your heart)
'Thud' - Nick Butterworth (kids love to join in)
'Here Come the Aliens' - Colin McNaughton (just great fun)

Can't wait to get back into these and so many others with future grandchildren!

For a baby shower 10 Little fingers and 10 little toes is lovely, a lovely celebration of new babies. Another favourite early one for us was the ahlbergs’ baby catalogue in board book because babies like to look at it themselves.

If it’s for the baby, Hug! is a lovely board book. If it’s for the parents, try the No Cry Sleep Solution for Newborns Smile
