Usbourne history books vs Ladybird

Expat Brit here looking to educate my kids in British history... I saw some nice looking Ladybird books in Amazon with lots of suitable titles - Tudors and Stewarts, Second World War, British Kings and Queens etc. I noticed that Usbourne do a similar series and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the Usbourne ones versus the the Ladybird ones?

I must admit there is a bit of the nostalgia factor for Ladybird books of old in my thinking. Maybe there is a "big" British history book for kids that would be a better bet? Engaging illustrations a big bonus. Children are 7 and 9 but their reading age is a bit lower as they are educated in a different language.

I am literally addicted to those kids Usborne books. There is a such a massive range for all ages. Im still on baby and toddler books but i follow an Usborne seller and i can honestly say they look fantastic. Educational, interactive. Good range of fiction. Go on the Usborne website. Such a range. Hope you enjoy them.

We have one ladybird one about the war of the roses I think and it is terrible. I couldn't follow it and it was pretty boring too.

So I'd go for usborne given the choice of the two. Though my kids are the same age as yours and get their history education from horrible histories (the books).

I have also seen some other sets of history books on the book people (can't remember what they were though). Watching for other options as we are also not in the UK so would like to get my kids knowing a bit about UK history.

I use the usbourne books in school and really like them. Another series of books which are good are Terry deary fiction books. Although the stories are fictional they are historically accurate and full of lots of facts. My year 3/4 class loves them. They are a good starting point for discussion and further reading.

Sounds like Usbourne for the win! will have a look at the Terry Deary books too, sounds like something my son would enjoy.

Usborne books for me. The Web links provide further learning and interactive information for all ages. There's now a fantastic range of young adult fiction and fiction for yourself too.
New titles every month, so they continually add to the range if titles available.
They offer a fantastic range and there's something for everyone.
