Ideas for a book themed scavenger hunt

I’m planning a scavenger hunt for World Book Day for children aged 6-8 years and wondered if any of you clever people could help? I would like the item to relate to a book (that is preferably fairly well known so will be recognisable).

Examples of ideas so far:

  • green leaf for The Very Hungry Caterpillar
  • stick as a wand for witch in Room on the Broom/ or Stickman

Other items the children could collect: stone, feather, moss, acorn, flower, cobweb, grass, pine cone, empty snail shell, tree bark etc.

Any ideas how these could be linked to well known books? Thank you!

There are some good nature stuff in We're Going on a Bear Hunt, a couple are quite specific like snow but there's long wavy grass, so a blade of grass could possibly tie in?

Oh and there's a Julia Donaldson book called Sharing a Shell, which could tie in with the snail shells?

Elmer is pretty recognisable, could you use that some way?

Green eggs and ham? Dr Seuss? Or perhaps the hat from cat in hat instead?

Magic beans - jack and beanstalk

Broken chair - Goldilocks

Underpants - either captain underpants or aliens love underpants

They're old enough for things like "George's marvelous medicine" so maybe a brown bottle or a paint tin?

Sorry I was imagining pictures or items being hidden for scavenger hunt, not normal nature items! Sorry should read properly!

Web could be charlottes web?

The snail and the whale by Julia Donaldson would work for the snail shell.

An acorn - the gruffalo
Soil- bear hunt

Owl Babies or The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark for the feather, and a stone could be Hansel and Gretel?

Slow day at work, if you can't tell!

:D those suggestions are great, thank you! I was also thinking stone from stone soup fairytale, seed for mice in Brambly Hedge, nut for squirrel Nutkin, Pooh stick from Winnie the Pooh.

Struggling with a flower....

A pot of honey for Winnie the Pooh (or nature theme - trees for Hundred Acre Wood?)
Thick glasses/stripy top and hat for Where's Wally?
