I’m looking for adventurous survival stories

Ds2 (10) loves stories about surviving in the wild. If there’s an avalanche or volcano or something similar in the storyline, then that would be perfect.
Any recommendations please?

I'm not sure if it's age appropriate but Touching the Void is pretty good.

Katherine Rundell’s new one, The Explorer, is a survival tale set in the Amazon.

Hatchet by Gary Paulson. I loved that book as a kid.
