Hi,

Does anyone have any reading suggestions for my 11 year old daughter. She likes reading but it's difficult to prize her away from YouTube Hmm

My 10.5 year old is loving Tamora Pierce - song of the lioness series.
I found the Mighty Girl a good source of book recommendations

Wonder has gone down surprisingly well with my dc. It has a similar feel to the diary of a wimpy kid books

Zoella is a popular YouTube celebrity for girls of your dd's age. She's recently launched a book club in collaboration with WHSmith. She talks about her chosen titles on her YouTube channel and the details are also on this blog blog.whsmith.co.uk/tag/the-zoella-book-club/ Most title would be appropriate for a mature 11yo, but I'd do a bit of screening first, if I were you.

One series which is very well written and hugely popular with girls at the moment is the Geek Girl series by Holly Smale. The humorous fiction follows the life of Harriet Manners, a nerdy 15-year-old girl who tries out modelling to "reinvent herself". The first book in the series, Geek Girl was the Number 1 debut teen fiction book of 2013 in the UK. It won the 2014 Waterstones' Children's Book Prize in the young adult category. It also received the 2014 Leeds Book Award in the ages 11–14 category.
