'My little sister' - too 'young' for 8yo dd?

Dd is currently loving milly molly mandy, having found a box of my own childhood books. She loves that it's old fashioned and loves the adventures and the playing they get up to, and the whole simplicity of life.

We've never actually read any of the my little sister series, in Amazon the age guide is 7-9, but reviews suggest it has a much younger reading age. I like the sound ofvthem and think she'll enjoy them, just not sure if they're a bit 'young'?

If your child has enjoyed these books, would you recommend them for the first time to an 8 year old? Thanks.

I read them to dd when she was tiny and now (nearly 10) she still picks them up when she needs something soothing.

They're lovely. Any age can enjoy loveliness. If she's into MMM, she'll enjoy them.

Go for Little House on the Prairie next. Ultimate comfort reading.

I tried reading them to DD just after she turned 6 and she had no tolerance for them. She is now 7.8yo and is working her way through them of her own volition.

I read them to youngest son at age 4 and middle son age 8 also enjoyed listening. They were a little young for him but that didn't diminish his enjoyment .

Children love stories about naughty children, hence the popularity of Horrid Henry. I'm sure she'll love MNLS, particularly in contrast to Milly Molly Mandy who, though lovely, is always very very good. The one where MNLS and her friend Bad Harry eat a whole birthday trifle was always a favourite with mine; also the one where she bites Father Christmas.

6.5yo dd2, who is a bit of a reluctant reader, enjoyed the picture books so much she bought a big collection of them when she was given a book token.

Do you mean the My naughty little sister books? I read them to my 5yo DS and he loved them, but he could relate as he has a very naughty little sister himself.

I've tried them with my 6 year old, but the pace was way too slow. I'd say they don't really stand up to modern books.
