Are the later Worst Witch books any good?

Reading the second one to ds at the moment and loving it - the books read aloud beautifully and we were crying with laughter at the bit where Enid's monkey turns out to have been a cat all along.

Are the later 5 worth reading or does the series go off?

I have not read them but my DD could not get enough of them over the summer.

Thanks, Hels71!

I read the first two when I was a child but I only found out recently there were any more.

Can't say for sure as DS1 is reading them by himself (usually several times). Maybe a bit formulaic (as series will almost inevitably be) but that can be a comfort factor. Get them from the library and give them a whirl!

my dd is 5.5yrs would they be suitable or better for bit older? I remember enjoying the first one as a child but can't remember how old I was.

My ds is only just turned 5, Loobylou, but he does have a pretty good attention span - I think 5 or older depending on the child. I think once they start school they can relate to the scary teachers/sneaky star pupils type stuff.
If it doesn't work now wait a year or two, you can always try again later.
