Are there any decent magazines for 6/7 year olds?

I've just come across a lovely children's magazine in Austria - a mixture of cartoons, animal/geography facts, profiles of the life of children in different countries

I don't know of anything equivalent in the UK. The times I have looked for magazines I've only really seen heavily branded magazines, often for very young children, or stuff created to appeal primarily to girls.

Anybody come across anything good?

Brainbox is quite good, and DS2 likes the Horrible History comic.

Oh yes, there are some gorgeous magazines out there at the moment ...

BIG Kids Magazine - very arty, beautifully produced and absolutely packed full of wonderful content.

The Loop - I haven't read this one myself, but it has a loyal following and appears v popular.

Moose Kid Comics - traditional, wholesome cartoon fun. Only available in e-version at the moment, however it is free!

Okido is another good one.

Oh, I knew I'd forgotten one ...

Have you seen Anorak Magazine?

Mine used to love National Geographic for Kids.

They also liked Aquila, which you can get on subscription.

My boys loved the Storybox magazines. They also do Adventure box and Discovery box for older kids, but I liked the mix of stories/info in the original.

The Phoenix is great. Mine are younger than yours but think it's for a broad age range.

My 6 year old DD loves National Geographic Kids. She also enjoys Aquila, but it is a little harder.....
