DS would like to find out about bees.

Can anybody suggest a book? I've told him everything I know and then suggested looking for a film on youtube or googling or looking in a book and he decided that he would like a book most.

So either something just about bees, or a good children's encyclopaedia/book about nature in general (it has to mention bees though or he will be upset )

He's 5, but the Usbourne beginners book I've found on amazon looks a bit too simplistic. (Although would be happy with that level of information in something that covered lots of different subjects, if that makes sense.)

Have a look on Facebook for some beekeeper pages. I joined one to ask a question but kept them because they're really interesting. They'll help you with anything you need.

It might be the pictures are sufficient for now, and the detail is then interesting next year or the one after for him?

There's also a few books on there about best plants to attract bees, so maybe something like that?

There's a good old original Ladybird book called The Life of the Honeybee which I remember my father selling copies of many years ago (we had a firm making bee keeping equipment). It probably isn't in print anymore but you're bound to be able to get a second hand copy.

We have bought loads of these old books for my DSs as they're lovely, straightforward and have beautiful illustrations.

Oh I love the look of the ladybird one. We used to have a big box of ladybird books on the steps of the playground at school, I'd read "Things to make and do" every playtime!
