Desperate times - a friend only has a pirate costume for tomorrow and we are trying to come up with a courageous pirate to qualify for world book day. Thanks so much.

The Dread Pirate Roberts

Captain Flynn (from Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs)

PiratesLifeForMe · 05/03/2014 14:09

Umm....unless he was never in any books in which case ignore me...!

TeamHank · 05/03/2014 14:13

The Pirates Next Door?

worriedsick100 · 05/03/2014 14:13

Jack sparrow is quite a specific look so was going to give him a wide berth.

Were there any brave pirates in treasure island or were they all villains ( I am immediately discounting long john silver and jim hawkins)?

The pirates in Pirates Next Door are very cool.

Do they need to have been brave? Smile

Goblinchild · 05/03/2014 14:16

How old is the child?
Dread Pirate Roberts is from the book 'The Princess Bride'
There are The Night Pirates.
There's One eyed Jake by Pat Hutchins
All the pirates in Treasure Island.

BobbyGentry · 05/03/2014 14:16

Edward Teach (Blackbeard) & most privateers !?! :)

Dinosaursareextinct · 05/03/2014 14:17

Villains can be brave too. Real life pirates are all villains.

Goblinchild · 05/03/2014 14:18

Bartholomew Roberts was both successful and well-liked by his crew.

worriedsick100 · 05/03/2014 14:23

They character needs to have shown courage. The child is 6. I suspect lots of pirates were just baddies and not necessary courageous. I think you just need to quote the name of book if asked who you are.

The Man whose Mother was a Pirate by Margaret Mahy

Goblinchild · 06/03/2014 12:39

I love that book CMOT. The language alone makes it fabulous literature.

KinderBoris · 06/03/2014 12:48

Captain Buckleboots?

KinderBoris · 06/03/2014 12:49

He was brave enough to say he was sorry and help put his naughtiness right?

drivenfromdistraction · 06/03/2014 12:50

Captain Flynn of course! He courageously takes on those dreaded pirate dinosaurs every time :)
