Longer picture books for 7 year old?

My DD1 is 7 & enjoys both reading & being read to. But she's really not keen on "chapter books" as she likes to have the story resolved at the end of each reading session / before she goes to sleep. We've done Clarice Bean & Beatrix Potter - does anyone have any other suggestions for short stories / picture books with more complicated stories / lots of words?

(I don't think I can put up with many more readings of Topsy & bleedin Tim! Not without taking with me.)

The Lighthouse Keeper books, they have longer stories and lovely pictures. They can be bought as picture book sized books or in I think it is called B format where it is the size of a chapter book but the lighthouse keeper ones are done so there are either 2 in a book or 1. so can be read in one or two sittings easily. I love them.

Old Bear stories by Jane Hissey
Paddington - the picture story books are basically 1 chapter of one of the traditional chapter books I think. (there are some that are toddler versions so you don't want those ones but ones like Paddington and the Marmalade Maze, Paddington goes for gold etc)
what else erm oh yes another favourite - Laura's Star. there are picture books and also early reader ones.

if she likes funny books you could look for Dog on a Broomstick, Dogbird, Happy Mouseday, The Troublesome Tooth Fairy, The Witches Dog, Animals in School, The Quick Brown Fox Cub, The Kitten with No Name. Some of these are basic but nice little books and others are Corgi Pups ones which are short chapter books. Dick King Smith might not be so daunting to her, Hodgeheg and Happy Mouseday are very short.

what about the Usborne Young Reading ones? they do series 1, 2 and I think 3 now as well. we haven't tried any of the series 2 one yet because I don't think DD1 is old enough yet for the storylines but they have The Secret Garden and others like that but all in a shortened format with illustrations.

The Church Mouse series by Oakley has the most beautiful detailed pictures.

Just remembered the Happy Families series by Ahlberg. We liked those too.

Shirley Hughes does some beautiful slightly longer books, one with Ella in the title and a lovely one set in Liverpool at the turn of the century at Christmas. Sorry not to be more specific but well worth a google!

A lot of Dr.Seuss books are way too long for my liking...

Second Katie Morag. How about longer Winnie the Witch books?
Usborne Greek myths? Lighthouse Keeper series? Janet Reachfar?

Ooh ooh ooh A Necklace of Raindrops by Joan Aiken, a wonderful writer and so beautifully illustrated.

The Claude series by Alex T Smith
Fortunatetly, the milk by Neil Gaiman
Dixie O'Day by Shirley Hughes & her daughter (!) Clara is wonderful!

Walker do first chapter books that have a pic on each page and short chapters.

Emma Chichester Clark does some beautifully illustrated classics, some with Michael Morpurgo. Might be a bit long though.
