DS got Rat Burglar and dd got some lovely sticker books. Usually they get a huge pile but seem happy with what they have.

DD got The Hunger Games trilogy which we are going to read together and DS got some of the learning to read Lego books and some Mr Men books to add to his collection!

TheArticFunky · 27/12/2013 17:27

Ds 1 (9) got the Catching fire from the Hunger Games, Diary of a wimpy kid, Minecraft annual, Skylanders annual, Deadly 60 annual, lego book and Family Guy annual from my mum. The Family Guy book is going back - I think my
Mum thought it was like The Simpsons. It's annoying because they are placed next to the children's annuals in the shops so a lot of people don't realise.

Ds 2 (3 ) got a selection of The Large Family books, Mr Stick, a Gruffalo magnetic book and a selection of Peter Rabbit books.

so far apart from some lego books ds1 has a book on Greek myths but we have a pile of books for his birthday in 2 weeks. stuff like Mr Gum and How to train your dragon. dd got Pippi Long stocking and for her birthday just before Christmas got paper bag Princess, Princess smarty pants, the longer winnie the witch books, paper dolls and the first of the worst witch. She was 5 so er are on that cusp where she loves snuggling with something like paper dolls but is also starting to read longer books herself as well as together.

DS2 aged 7, got the Diary of a Wimpy Kid box set.

He is currently on book 4, and says it is brilliant.

B it I kind of feel we have merely swapped him having his nose in an iPad game for having his nose in a book. He is just so bloody obsessive.

'Goth Girl' by Chris Riddell for dd8. The most beautiful, embossed, foiled, constructed and illustrated fiction book out there imo.

'Oliver and the Seawigs' by Philip Reeve for ds6. Fantastic bridge between picture book and fiction.

Some lovely books received. DS got the first 3 diary of a wimpey kid last year but has only just got into them. He's had me ordering some from the library tonight.

Dd (12) got some Angus Thongs books and Throne Of Glass which is meant to be the next big thing/Hunger games type book.

CaptainSweatPants · 27/12/2013 21:44

Dd (7) got Gangster granny which was timely as it was on Xmas day
Ds (9) got the latest wimpy kid book & a batman Lego encycpedia

Iggity · 27/12/2013 22:02

DS (4) got a lovely pop up (with sound) version of Peter Pan. It is amazing particularly the pop up Big Ben on first page with its distinctive dongs.

We also bought the latest Julia Donaldson but have forgotten name. Something to do with a rocking horse and Unicorn. It's ok but nothing fantastic and have gone off her books a bit after the abysmal ending to the Rhyming Rabbit which we read a few days ago in the library.

Also bought The Diabolical Mr Tiddles which is about a kleptomaniac cat and What do people do all day by Richard Scarry and the last three Songbirds reading books.
