Trying to remember a book I loved at about 9/10. It was about a family whose parents disappeared and ended living in a cave. I seem to remember cooking in a straw box?!? I was just hoping it might ring a bell with someone. Having just re-read Family from One End Street I am trying to relive my past!

It was a haybox, and googling suggests it was The Children who lived in a Barn, by Eleanor Graham. Starring role for the haybox according to reviews!

I was thinking it sounded like The Children Who lived in a barn. It's a good story.

I keep suggesting to df that he makes a hay box as he's always going on about electricity consumption.
