Please impart your knowledge about Jacqueline Wilson to me

I have a 7yo dd. She loves reading, especially those Horrid Henry and puppy/kitten/animated fluff series.

I have read a few JW books and thought they were great in the sense that they were non patronising, well written and thought provoking. But. Dd lives in a very rural area, attends a very mc church and mc school. She has no idea of many of the topics Jw deals with. And I'd like it to stay that way for a bit longer.

That said, I really do think her books are very good and I'd like the quality of dd reading material to be improved, are there any jw books for younger readers?

If you go to the JW website she recommends which books are best for whatever age. I think the guidance is quite accurate.

the topics are hard hitting at times, but good way to introduce those painful things, make them seem less frightening.

My niece is 8 and lives in the country, and she loves Hetty Feather - set in the 19th century, about a girl from a foundling hospital.

Afraid I don't know, but DS has enjoyed a couple that were absolutely fine- The Monster Story Teller and Mr Cool. They might be a bit easy/boyish for her? The Monster Storyteller was very good, I liked it and nothing dodge in it...

JW is an author that I like, but I always read them before I let any of the DCs have a go at them. DD is 10, no3 son is 8, and some of her books are not "suitable" for them at all.
It's hard to say right out what's what so to speak, but I would recommend reading, or at least leafing through her stuff before your DD, just to check you're happy with the content of that particular book.
They are all pretty much of a muchness too, following a template almost, so after you've read a couple it gets much easier to vet them.

Agree with Pom. They are much of a muchness. Troubles in the family, big issues, resolution.
I am not keen but fortunately, DD has more or less outgrown them now.

Misery lit for pre teens. I wouldn't go deliberately introducing her to JW, any bookish pre teen will find her in good time on their own.
