This is the best pop up book I've bought

10 Little Penguins Pop-up
The card is really thick, the movement is brilliant, the story is possibly a bit sad, but it's all ok at the end.
However, this isn't a recommendation, but a search for similar. We have quite a few pop ups, but none as good as this. Any suggestions?

I know someone has read a better pop up book than 10 little penguins and I'm going to shamelessly bump my thread til someone answers. Ner.

My DCs love Poppy Cat's Christmas, it's been read to death, and is now in our annual Christmas Box to be brought out only in December

The pop up version of Giraffes Can't Dance is pretty marvellous. It is not sturdy though

I'm gonna bump this coz we want a good pop up too. But the flaps and pop ups have to be thick and hard to tear for little fingers.

I have that Alice in Wonderland one, and the Jungle Book one, but when my four year old pulls them out at bedtime I have to adopt my speed reading/word skimming. The pictures in them are amazing though.

My son loves The Tickle Book by Ian Whybrow and Axel Scheffler which led to The Christmas Bear from Santa and then The Bedtime Bear.
They're not pop up's as such, but they have moving parts and starting at three, none of the bits have been broken yet so I think they're very durable.

DS who is 5 inexplicably loves The Story Of Christmas which he wants all year. I think it's because it doesn't just pop up, the characters move on little paper levers, and Mary bobs up and down on a very wonky looking donkey on her way to Bethlehem. Any suggestions for similar very welcome.

IMHO THIS is the best pop up (plop up) book in the world EVER.

I don't have kids, but have bought it for and read it to about 10 kids of friends/ family and they all LOVE it.

Teaches valuable life lessons, too

The pop ups are very varied in how they pop and are very vivid.

Jack Tickle does others similar but this one is a fave. Though the 'Very Busy Bear' one is also very good with hedgehogs which actually roll.

Also, of course though everyone knows the story - this pop-up version of Hungry Caterpillar is very good indeed with moving parts (caterpillar creeping along leaf, through strawberries etc) as well as fab pop ups including dramatic finale. www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/eric+carle/the+very+hungry+caterpillar+pop-up+book/6434463/

Anything by Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart (Alice in Wonderland/ Peter Pan etc.) For younger children I prefer their Moveable Mother Goose, Brava Strega Nona and Cookie Count. We've got the non-"Plop up" version Lula, it's good scatalogical fun.

Kipper's Balloon has to be the best pop-up IMHO and "Sarge in Charge" is another good one.

For younger children the Jack Tickle pop up books are lovely, we have a few of those. If your child is a ruffian then they might not last though, DS loved them but DD loves them with more vigour and we've had one book fatality unfortunately:

We have quite a few of the Jo Lodge Mr Croc books and the pop up mechanisms are amazing. We love Mr Croc!
