DD9 loves Jacqueline Wilson books, particularly ones like Hetty Feather and Lottie Project. Can anyone suggest similar books I might persuade her to read? Thanks!

Dd11 loves Jacqueline Wilson books and when I read this thread raced up stairs to her book mountain and found all her favourite JW books. The ones she rated were Candy Floss (her favourite) which is like the Lottie project, Little Darlings, The worst thing about my sister and The longest whale song. She could go on and include other author if you need them.

Thanks Nonio! Indeed The Worse Thing... and Candy Floss are also very much favourites here, so sounds like they have similar taste! So any other titles/authors much appreciated! Thanks

Not the historical setting, but dd really enjoyed A Dog Called Homeless (which sounds depressing from the synopsis as its about a girl whose mother has died, but really isn't - I had a look & it looked excellent). Also the Casson family series by Hilary McKay (I think the first one is Saffy's Angel )

I second Hilary mackay and also rare Anne fine, jean ure.

Surprised no one mentioned Judy Blume, I just picked up Superfudge for 25p (jumble sale) & DD is asking for more.

Do be careful with the Wilson books, some of hers are much "older" than others - I read each one before I decide if DD is ready for it yet - the covers are all the same type of thing so it can be hard to tell at a glance. I can never quite make up my mind if JW is actually "suitable" for children or not with some of the stuff she writes Confused - I think I'm an old gimmer who just wants my DCs to be well, children for a while longer and most of her books feature children who don't get the chance iyswim.
