Hi all,

Looking for some good bedtime stories for 4 year old DS. Ideally looking for something which could be read over two or three nights. We have exhausted the shorter roald dahl books. But something similar which is easy to understand and reasonably boyish. Tried Horrid Henry, which is fine, but not great I don't think. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a DD the same age and she loves the naughty little sister books.

How about some of the Jill Tomlinson books like The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark, The Penguin who Wanted to Learn, etc.

We also started some Enid Blyton at around age 4/5. The Wishing Chair stories in particular went down very well.

Knights and Dragons stories, published by Igloo very good. Started them when DS 3, still going now he's nearly 6 Smile and DD likes them too now (nearly 4). The Illustrated Usborne Book for Boys is very good- bought it for DS when he'd just turned 5 and he was hooked for months after. They are shorter stories, though, read one or two a night. Am now reading him Jeremy Strong stuff that he loves, but might be a bit long/old for your DS? At 4 he still wanted pictures, had to gradually wean him off them!
