history book for a 5 year old??

i'm looking for ideas - my nearly 5 year year old DD is full of questions about 'what happened in the olden days'. i think she means at school, toys, how people lived, did people live with the dinosaurs etc. any ideas?? thank you in advance!

Hi,

The book people have some on their website. The two links below are for books for children aged 5+. If your DD is a confident readr there are a few for 7+ too, of course they could always be sharing books.

We have the Usborne Encyclopaedia of British History, and although the text is still a bit advanced for DD (also 5) the pictures are good to look at.

She also has a book with lots of pictures of historical costumes which is a good way into understanding how time passed/the concept of centuries, because it only looks at one thing.

the costume book is called The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Costume and Fashion by Jack Cassin-Scott - you can get it 2nd hand on Abebooks.
