How old for the noughts and crosses series?

Dd1 is 12 and I think she's probably too young but it's been a while since I read them. Anyone got any suggestions on them?

My DD's 12 and I was thinking about lending her them the next time she moans about having nothing to read.

12+. Some swearing/sex, esp in last book. Depends how mature they are really!

DD read them at 11 and loved them. She is now just 13 and has read them all 3 or 4 times. She says they are amazing books and thinks they are better than Hunger Games but she prefers Hunger Games.
