Books in German for an 17m old

Hello

DD is 17m old and I want to start reading to her in German (realise I've left it a bit late, but lots of health stuff happened last year which rather put pay to my plan of raising her to speak German...). I'm fluent and DH speaks fairly decent German (but not written/read).

Anyways. Where is the best place to buy German toddler books? ebay(.de)? Amazon?

Any recommendations for good books? We already have 'Lulus Schuhe' courtesy of my sister :)

Thanks

Hi, we get all our books brought over by relatives or buy them when we're on holiday. I can only think of buying them on Amazon.de and have them delivered to family/friends who can then send them on.
I just looked at our nicest books for that kind of age and they are
"Der Kleine Mondbaer" by Rolf Faenger & Ulrike Moeltgen (quite a famous character, cute drawings, simple wording, not too much per page)
"Tuck, tuck, mein Traktor!" by ministeps, rhymes each page has things to move/pull/push in etc
"Ich kann zaubern" by Helmut Spanner, on each page you pull something and it makes something pop out from somewhere; rhymes as well
Just a small selection, hope it helps! :)

When my son was little, I got a lot of German toddler books from our local library (we live in Germany). Many of them were translations of books originally in English, like Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt and I'd recommend just having a look on amazon.de and see what they have for under 2s. Something else that might be worth doing is getting some DVDs of German kiddies' TV such as Sandmännchen - also available via amazon.de

Don't worry about it being too late - sounds like the ideal age to me. My son is bilingual and reads happily now in both languages - he's 11. Just need to get the Latin sorted out now. :)

We quite enjoyed a CD of nursery songs in English and German, from a company called Baby Boom Boom.
Also DH often just translates English books into German as he goes along.
