What comes after 'Famous Five' for adventure loving 9yr old DS

I'm hoping to capitalise on DS' devotion to the Famous Five by introducing an equally appreciated range of books to him.

He loves adventure, has done Harry Potter, his Dark Materials too complex. He loved Dr Doolittle - was thinking of some classics.

Any ideas??

Percy Jackson, redwall series, and the spooks series are ds's current faves, as well as the Terry Pratchett range of 'wee free men' etc

I agree with the redwall series. I loved them as a child and still have about 15 of them now. my copy of Redwall is torn and tattered from the amount of reads it has had in the last 20 years but one of my favourite ever books, full of adventure

headzookeeper he's still writing about 1 a year :) We have the just william series but they've been unread, bit like the Roman Mysteries which might also be a good choice.

ds is 10 and he really likes the 'cherub' series BUT they might be a bit old for him

gimmathenome no he's not read those, just the discworld ones for young adults (although I know alot of old adults who enjpyed them! :)

Young Sherlock Holmes may be better than the Penderwicks I think they might all be girls can't remember.

Alfred Hitchcock wrote some children's mystery books eg The Whispering Mummy (probably out of print).

DS (10) lives, breathes and sleeps Horowitz...

But given that his English teacher said he was 'gifted' at English and had a reading age of over 16 I'm not complaining

The old Willard Price Adventure books have been published again ie Amazon Adventure, Jungle Adventure etc I loved them when I was younger.

Does he like Doctor Who? There are hundreds of those books.
