Scary books for a 9 year old

I'm after some scary books for my ds who is 10 in March and a reluctant but very competent reader. He's just read the Graveyard Book and the first two Hardy Boys. The only scary books that I've read were things like Stephen King so I could really do with a more suitable selection that are fictional or factual.

My DS is 8 and likes scary books and things with monsters in at the moment. He liked:

Harry Potter (later ones are more scary)
Percy Jackson series (less childish than the early HPs)
Spooks Apprentice series
He's also read a couple of Beast Quest series.

Try Groosham Grange and Granny, both by Anthony Horowitz. Good, straightforward reads with a good blend of horror and humour. Would appeal to a reluctant reader, I would say.

Grinny by Nicholas Fisk is horrid.

Will think of more tomorrow.
