Barrington Stoke publish books for older so called "reluctant readers"/dyslexic - some very good stories such as Young Dracula - big print on cream paper (meant to be easier to read). Many of the books are by well known writers such as Michael Murpurgo. My Dyslexic daughter liked them and she loved lots of EB.
Often stocked in Libraries.

My 12 yo DS has Aspergers and loved the Captain Underpants series. Very funny and organised in a comic book style.

What about "Hatchet"?

My brother loved this when he was about 12 -15 (bear in mind he didn't read until he was 8)

It's about a boy who crash lands on an island and has to learn to take care of himself (it's good, simply written but very gripping)

has he read the Famous Five books?
