DD wants Boy by Roald Dahl

Has anyone read it and can you tell me anything about it please? She has read most of his other books but I believe this is slightly autobiographical.

yes, it does have some violent bits in (eg caning) but is written for kids. I thought it was excellent.

I have just started Boy and it is very enjoyable.

I should add - had read Dahl copiously as a child and not Boy and Going Solo so it is bedtime reading since my usual reading is history stuff which is quite depressing.
