Has anyone had an Usborne book party?

Hello

I'm thinking of having an Usborne party in the run up to Christmas and just wondering if anyone has had one and if it was worthwhile?

Thanks

I went to one. My overriding impression was that they were a bit of a rip off. All the books could have been bought more cheaply from Amazon.

I ended up buying nothing.

Woman who ran it did about 2 more parties (ours was her 2nd) then quit.

All in all, not a roaring sucess. Sorry.

Why not just invite your friends round for mince pies and mulled wine? The books are very expensive and your friends will be grateful that they don't have to buy anything and just enjoy your company instead.

I do them :)

I do really well, and there are some really good offers on atm. EG the one on at the moment for hosts is that they get a set of books worth nearly £80 for £7. There are also things like the Encyclopedias, which are RRP £30, for £15.

The host generally gets around £25 to spend on books themselves, plus any offers, the guests don't have to buy anything, but usually do as there are brill offers, as well as the books being really good quality, and the full range being available, with examples being shown at the party so you know what you are buying.

I have found that the books are really popular- as soon as people actually hold them, they want to buy them. Schools love them too, as they are well written and well constructed.
