So worried about my dd8

DD8 has been poorly for the last month and I’m starting to worry.

started off with a fever that wouldn’t go away, she was complaining that she hurt everywhere and her head hurt. She was sleeping practically 22 hours a day. She ended up having a week and half off school. She developed a cough, not a consistent one but one that still hasn’t shifted.

she is barely eating, refusing even chicken nuggets. Or if she does it it’s a few bites then she’s full. This is not like her, she has always been “big” but she has lost a significant amount of weight the last few weeks. Even to the point she has Halloween sweets etc she hasn’t touched which isn’t like her lol. She was even too poorly for Halloween and spent the whole time sleeping.

shes very pale and has dark circles around her eyes.

she has always been prone to nose bleeds but they are very frequent atm and extremely heavy which they are normally not.

she’s gone to a horse show today with her dad and he’s messaged me saying he’s worried about her as she seems weak and is saying she doesn’t feel well. She asked for a doughnut and had one bite and didn’t want anymore.

iv noticed a few bruises on her legs lately too :(

im ringing 111 today but DH is going to take her a&e, im away with work until Wednesday and they are at a horse show 90 mins from home.

How do they get on? You should be able to get an appt with symptoms in a child like that no issue.

cestlavielife · 10/11/2024 22:18

Send the photos on an e consult and ask for urgent appt.
If she was able to attend a horse show it is not "a and e" but does need to be seen tomorrow.

teatimelover · 10/11/2024 22:53

I hope everything is all well x

healthybychristmas · 10/11/2024 22:55

I can really see why you're worried and hope she is okay and she got good treatment at the hospital.

XelaM · 10/11/2024 22:59

A&E

I hope she gets well soon x

LittleSparklyStar · 12/11/2024 10:49

Please let us know when you feel able how she is

StampOnTheGround · 12/11/2024 20:58

How is she doing OP? I hope she's getting the medical attention she needs and will be on the mend soon x

lifeisacat · 12/11/2024 21:28

Been wondering how she is all weekend. Hopefully the silence is just busyness rather than being in hospital. Hope she's doing ok

FixingStuff · 14/11/2024 09:01

I hope everything is okay there. Still thinking of you here.

HoppingPavlova · 14/11/2024 09:09

You have put this in the ‘Children’s Cancer’ forum, so it would seem to be you think your child, whom you describe as very poorly, has cancer. Yet, you have not taken them to a Dr? After posting on Mumsnet you will take them to a Dr.

Whst person, who honestly believes their child has cancer hadn’t taken them to a Dr at least, before posting on a forum🤯. Priorities in life.

Bimblesalong · 14/11/2024 09:12

I hope she has been seen urgently. This sounds like my son who was diagnosed with t1 diabetes ages 7.

WaffleDogg20 · 21/11/2024 08:41

Sorry I didn’t update.

DD was taken to a & e and they said it was Scarlett fever but I’m not convinced. They gave her antibiotics and it’s not really done anything, over night she’s developed a cough and says her tummy hurts so she has a doctors appointment today and I’m requesting blood tests.

Well done for keep pushing this, bless her. Good luck at the docs! X

OnlyWhenILaugh · 21/11/2024 10:05

I really hope your GP is more proactive and you find the appt helpful. It seems extraordinary blood tests weren't done at a&e.

WaffleDogg20 · 21/11/2024 11:48

the hospital was awful tbh. My husband and dd17 took her because I had to look after my ds and they kept ignoring my dh and speaking to my daughter like she was her mum even though he said she isn’t.

That's bizarre @WaffleDogg20 .
Hopefully your GP will listen 🙏

lifeisacat · 21/11/2024 19:01

I hope you had better luck with GP today
