Really interesting BBC article based on interviews with the group Bristol Childfree Women. Lots in this resonated with me, so I thought I'd share it:

Caroline Mitchell sat at a bench with a book

'Being child-free has left me feeling like a freak'

Caroline Mitchell said the "cultural expectation" to have children has often made her feel excluded.

In response to the article, fortunately I've not experienced any major stigma for choosing not to have kids. I think the idea that you're not a real woman if you don't have kids is, thankfully, receding.

However, the thing I find most annoying is when people assume you don't want kids because you just want a nice clean house and to drink cocktails in Barbados. I run a social enterprise and put my blood, sweat and tears into it. I'm also concerned about having children when we live in such uncertain times. I'm not just a shallow twat.
