Our lovely nanny is leaving after three years to go back to Poland to get married. How very dare she

Any ideas for a good leaving present? I am going to give her cash but a token would be nice too of around £50 in value? She's not very materialistic and when I've given her jewellery etc for her birthday in the past I've had the impression she's not been that keen. And obviously it has to be something she can easily take back to Poland. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you

Easy Jet vouchers?

Strix · 08/07/2010 12:06

What about something nice she can enjoy before she leaves, like a spa voucher?

mrsshackleton · 08/07/2010 12:08

Both on right lines but she is leaving immediately after her last day with us so no time for a spa ... Easyjet, hmmm, they fly to Poland but she is from nowheresville and I'm not sure how much hassle it would be for her to reach the big cities to start the journey. Will investigate. Thank you. Keep 'em coming

Can the children make her something? Maybe get them to do some nice paintings (water colours always look pretty, even when not very skilled!) and put them in a little frame?

Or a little hamper of her favourite English foods/other items?

I don't know if you can get them, but a voucher for M&S online, for when she is back in Poland and wants something British?

A really nice photo frame with a pic of the dc in it?

Laquitar · 08/07/2010 22:07

Something very british since she is leaving the country.(good tea etc)

Or if she doesn't like make-up and perfumes, something for her new home? It will have to be light of course!

Does she have digital camera? There are some really cheap around (in Poland they 'll be expensive) and useful for the weddingg.

I agree with things dc's have made and a nice picture of them.

My sister is leaving her nanny job in September after 4 years (they're going to school, she's been there since they were 9m) and I know she would love it if she was given something like that.

If you want to but something too maybe a nice scarf? (I was thinking of the silk variety rather than woolly )

When my AP left after 10 months I bought her a Chamilla bracelet as I figure it is a brand that she can add too. Despite not being that fussed about clothes etc. Whilst here she was delighted with this (it was partly a birthday present as this was a few days after she left).

Thanks all, am going to look for a lovely photo to frame - just hope I can find one! I think that and cash is the best way forward

Our nanny left us a clip frame filled with a range of pictures of the DCs, some nicer than others(!). That was great to have photos of them over the 4 years in the one place.

DCs obviously agreed. They are terribly vain...

we bought ours a handbag - something she can use every day - and put inside it some paintings (well, scribbles) and stuff ds had made for her.
