CM's, How long did your registration take?

Hi,

I completed my ICP, first aid, etc and sent my paperwork to Ofsted at the beginning of May 2010. I calculated that I would be registered by the end of July 2010, given the 12 week processing period. Another MumsNeter has told me that the 12 weeks is just an estimate and is rarely met. Is this true? Can other CM's let me know how long their registration took to complete? I have a 15 month old boy lined up to start on August 16th and I would hate to let his mum down but I obviously can't take him until I am registered. Also, I am working at the moment and wanted plenty of time to advertise before I handed in notice.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

well it took me 5 months, I started everything in October, had my pre-reg in December, was registered in March. My crb took 3 months to come back.

Others might have been more or less.

I've been registered over 5 years so probably all different now but mine took 4 months.

If you get stuck, if the mum would be happy for you to start looking after him at THEIR house, that would be fine as you'd be their nanny. Just a thought.

my dh registered recently and his crb check took about 6 months

atworknotworking · 26/06/2010 19:18

6 - 8 months around here at the moment.

7 mths here, that was a couple of years ago tho.

Are you all stating the time it took to register once you sent your paperwork into Ofsted or from the time you started the process?

I am really worried now, I actually started attending training courses etc in Febuary so if my registration is complete at the end of July then in total it would have taken about 5 1/2 months?

It's the crb that is delaying things; most are taking months and months to come through.

Why not just ring and ask what stage its at, they may be able to update you on the timescale.

really really frustrated now...

i called crb who have lost dh's forms so now have to start again??? has anyone else heard of this happening?

called local authority where we previously lived and while the lady was helpful they don't expect the reference request to be finished for another 3 weeks!!! i am tearing my hair out.

another cm who was on the same course as me and sent her forms in after me received her registration on july 1st....

AAAHHH!!!

My DH's forms got sent to Glasgow and sat in someone's in tray for 2 months. I feel for you. It's really frustrating.

KatyMac · 09/07/2010 07:48

Yep - I photocopy everything I send & confirm arrival (mind you I used to work in the civil sevice, so I know, iyswim)

Millenium · 09/07/2010 07:49

I must have been lucky as my son's CRB check when he turned 16 only took four weeks in total - it probably would have only taken two weeks if they had not written back to ask what date he got married and what his driver's license number was - at the age of 16!!!!

EmMum06 · 09/07/2010 09:03

it is really worrying the levels of incompetancy that government agencies work at. and before i get messages defending them, i know that it is not the fault of individuals it is funding etc....still worrying though
