The Wokingham Borough Council website now has a search facility for childcare/child minders in the borough. You can find it [[ info.wokingham.gov.uk/kb5/wokingham/results.page?directory=2&category=500&sortfield=title&sor ttype=field
here.]]

If you are a childminder/childcare provider in the area and want to be included in the database, click 'Add and entry' on the left hand menu and add your details.

Sorry, that link has fallen foul of MN's 'black hole' which creates spaces in long blocks of continuous text.

This is the url, there should be no spaces or returns. I will try to get on to Tech to see if he can sort it.

Enter the url at bit.ly then post the short url it gives.

Cheers rusty, there are a few of us in that council area and I knew it was coming up but didn't know it was live yet

Tech · 25/06/2010 16:48

It should work OK. The break should only be in the display version.

Testing testing testing....

I think the problem was a gap between the [[ and the http. We'll look at making that a bit more forgiving....

Thanks RustyBear and others. I have had a go at adding my details - subject to approval by the moderators. Let's hope it works better than the Directgov site!

RustyBear · 25/06/2010 18:39

I did leave a space after the brackets the first time, Tech, but then I tried it again correctly and it still didn't work in Preview, so I didn't post it.

But Nick's bit.ly worked perfectly, both here and on our school website, where I've also posted it.

Testing

here

Yep, that works in preview.

nannynick · 25/06/2010 19:01

And it works from the thread as well. So not sure what the issue you had would be Rusty.

RustyBear · 25/06/2010 19:37

Oh well, maybe it was my incompetence after all. In my defence I have been proof-reading the teachers' reports all week, so I may have automatically added a space between two words without realising it I am practically cross-eyed by now....

In fact I am probably hallucinating, because I was convinced that you've swapped the post and preview buttons round.

Anyway, the bit.ly link was very useful for putting in the paper copies of the newsletter so that the parents don't have to type in that horrendous URL, so it wasn't all a waste of time.

Yes, the URL shortening services are great for putting complex URLs in print form. Also great for Twitter.

saz73 · 25/06/2010 21:19

i'm in Wokingham, just checked that site to go and add myself and I'm already added. Maybe info from the FIS is automatically added.

looneytune · 26/06/2010 09:40

Same here.

minderjinx · 26/06/2010 10:30

I wasn't on there. Worth checking.
