Hi all,

I am currently in the process of becoming a registered childminder. There are none in my area so they are pretty desperate and offering all sorts of funding.

This funding runs out in March 2011. I am sitting my assessment on 3rd Aug and my mentor has told me if I have the time it would be handy if I got a head start on the policies, once I have done assessment, policies etc... She can get my application put in to get me registered hopefully before Christmas, then I can get the funding i need to get the house sorted.

What policies do I need? Are there any good webistes where there are examples I can look at to help me.

Thanks

If you go on the ofsted webby and have a read through the welfare standards it will tell you which ones you must have that are written, their arn't many, however good cm's have wrtten policys and proceedures for just about everything imaginable.

Also a lot of CM's find the Bromley CM association a really good starting point for looking at what you need. www.bromleycma.org.uk/

Also have a look on the NCMA website, because they have a load of example policies that you could adapt to match your provision.

Yes, go to the Bromley CM association and have a look ( i think u can even downlaod them).
I did my childminding back in 2008 and I went and looked at other childminders policies online. then i took what i liked from each one and put it in my own words to suit my business. Everyone is so different, some specialise in EAL or SEN, hours and days are different...
some things like fire drill and food hygiene are standard.
if you get stuck with any I can email you mine if you like or help you write yours.
