CM - What age can child travel in front seat in car

Basically I care for a 4.5yr old who uses a booster seat in the car and wondered if I can strap him in the front seat of the car. Can anyone point me in the direction of a web page clarifying the legal side of this please?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

direct gov

There is no age though can go in front from birth (as long as no airbag)

De activate the airbag

littleducks · 15/06/2010 19:57

Sorry i was unclear, the airbag rule is for rearfacing car seats, forward facing are fine with airbag (unless manufacturers instructions say otherwise)

Basically what you are proposing is legally fine

hopalongdagger · 15/06/2010 19:58

Isn't the airbag thing only a problem for rear-facing seats? I wasn't aware that there was a problem in using air bags for children as long as they are forward facing?

hopalongdagger · 15/06/2010 19:58

Ah, x-post. Yes, I think you would be fine with a booster in the front seat then.

littleducks · 15/06/2010 20:00

It is recommended to slide the front seat back to the position away from the airbag if placing a forward facing child seat in it

katieskids · 15/06/2010 20:47

I am unable to deactivate airbag and assumed that you couldn't put a child in the front seat. Thanks for replies!
