Childminder "etiquette" query??

I'm looking for a childminder to take my DS to primary school (in August - am in Scotland and we start earlier up here) and pick him up - I've made a few queries and have been given the name/number of someone who may have vacancies.

I left a message yesterday after getting an answerphone, and have not yet heard back.

Now, I fully expect she will be too busy during the day with mindees to return the call, but when is polite to follow up if I don't hear back, and should I expect to hear back regardless?

Thanks.

I would give her the benefit of the doubt about her having got the message in the first place and call her again tonight about 7.30.

I always reply to enquiries - it would be daft not to as these people may be future customers even if I do not have a space right now.

If you have no joy after tomorrow move on.

I'd return a call even if I had no vacancy. Although I have to say a few years ago when I was looking for a childminder for my DD a few didn't even bother to reply (I emailed all in my area) but most of them did get back to me. Maybe she's a bit busy ... waiting to put her own kids to bed first ...

Oh yes I fully expect that she's probably been busy with her own children and work - I wasn't posting in a snippy 'why hasn't she called me????' way but just to find out when/if it would be appropriate to get follow up.

Thanks for the advic .

might be busy, might be poorly or attending to a member of poorly family, might be away on holiday.
lots of reasons she (he) hasn't gotten back to you but no harm in calling again in the next few days.

aconfusedmum · 11/06/2010 17:41

could she be away on holiday?

Janos · 11/06/2010 17:50

I don't think she's away, I was asked to contact her any time after five.

If I haven't heard by tomorrow I will ring again, or perhaps email would be best?
