So why do I still get anxious?

My lovely cleaner was here today, so the house is in as respectable state as it can be.

My paperwork for the new family to see is more or less in order.

The family was referred by a current mindee's family and we get along very well.

But here I am a little nervous

I think it is because you open your home to strangers for them to pass judgement on you, in one or other way. I can see from this thread that there are some horror stories of parents visiting CMs and I would HATE anyone to walk away from my home with that feeling!!

Wish me luck!

I can't think of another word instead of interview to use but don't forget that these meetings are as much for you as the professional Childminder to interview them, as for them to interview you.

You have to be happy that they will be coming into your home as they will I sure be happy that they will be leaving their child with you.

Good luck!

I had one today as well and felt the same. I had actually been wondering if other, more experienced CM felt the same! Wish I had a cleaner round though .

I never normally get nervous any more. I see it as a chance to chat and get to know each other (with ME interviewing just as much as the other way round!).

Having said that......I probably would be more paranoid after seeing the thread about house decor etc I'm a good childminder and my house is CLEAN but my decor is crap and the house is clearly PART decorated but it's so hard to find the time in this job as our home is our office so to speak!! I'd be LIVID if someone judged me based on the decor of my house. I wish it looked nicer to but the kids just trash it and well.....!!!

Anyway, how did it go?

Jenny, my lovely cleaner is my saving grace! money well worth spending.

Thanks, BALD. And Millenium: Good point you make.

Looney, my lounge (which is also my playroom, dining room, disco hall, tv room, front room and the office)used to be yellow............ but now it is a lovely light shade. But the landing is still yellow. So much for CMs with Lovely Decor!

At least the dishes were done!

It went well, though! Although the mum and dad were not very exuberant (big word on a Friday night after a glass of wine)(hope I bloody spelled it correctly!) but they were lovely and interested and caring yet business like, iykwim.

Lovely, gorgeous little girl!! I have lots of gorgeous, raucous, boisterous boys, so a calmer little girl will add an interesting dimension!
