Hi just thinking...

Got late collection charge in place.

This month i've had

  1. Parents late due to being stuck in traffic.
  1. A parent late, with friend chatting.

Would you charge for both or for the latter only?

Advice please. THANKS SO MUCH!!

The latter unless the first was a regular problem. If regular problem and they aren't allowing enough time for the traffic problem, I'd charge. I once had a child collected after 9pm instead of 6pm and they only worked 15 mins away - I didn't charge as it was due to flooding and out of their control.

The first is usually on time. The latter is late every now and then.

Thanks Looneytune!!

Think you know what to do then

Agree with Looneytune. If traffic is claimed to be the problem and it recurs, then the parent needs to ask for a change to the contracted pick-up time or be willing to pay for the late pick-ups (for which I charge double-time). Reason #2 is without question chargeable.

Thanks Millenium.

I have informed parents (in writing) that I will charge for late pickups and also for late payments. I will have to look at each case seperately!
