After school care needed - how do i find someone

I live in SW London and need to find someone to look after my kids whilst I am at work. 2 DDs who will be in Rec and yr2. I need to find someone who could work 3 days a week 2.30-6.30/7 and school hols - someone able to come in the morning to help get kids to school v helpful but not essential.

Anyone have any suggestions about where to find someone to do this role and when I should start looking?

I don't want to start too early but don't want to leave it too late either!
Thanks

you say someone comign to you, does that mean you wont consider a childminder?

I have one lined up for sept for my dd who starts reception. I am paying £5 ph and am in commuter belt in kent. She also does school holiday cover at a slightly lower hourly rate.

otherwise, maybe advertising on gumtree or on local paper?

or nanny agency might be worth a go, some nannies might want part time hours. If you want them to be available to do any days when children are sick or if the school wants them collecting, then you would have to [pay them full time wage though.

Ask at your school who they use for wrap-around care and see if that is suitable. They may provide care during the holidays as well.
