CM or nursery for 4 year old and 18 mth old?

Am I mad even considering a nursery?
My current CM is retiring in September and my DD1 is starting school.
I work two long days (8 hours), my husband currently collects DD1 from pre-school at 3.45 then DD2 from CM.
If we use a nursery DD2 will make lots of friends her age. CM will only keep DD2 and a 12mth old girl. Also nursery is 51 weeks per year. And we will have time with DD1 after school.
But, CM could keep both girls in school hols. CM seems really nice, has lots of activities at home and two girls of her own. Bit worried how my two will fit in with her two girls.
Also, I am worried we will swop DD2 in school playground with CM... In all weather...
We have to decide ASAP
Any views?

Nursery for who? The 18 month old?

I would have thought c.m for 18 mo who also then collects DD1 from school would be perfect?

Same as withorwithoutyou

Thanks
and will hand over in playground be OK?
does that sound practical?
My DD and CM DD are at same school but CM lives across town.

handover in playground is very common

looneytune · 14/05/2010 14:49

Yes, I've done and still do playground drop on odd occasions. I think it's perfectly fine

withorwithoutyou · 14/05/2010 14:52

I collect toddler DD from the playground while c/m is collecting her DD.

Not a problem.

We do playground swap, it's fine, DD2 very keen to jump in the double with CM's son. CM has mentioned that if they don't want to go it's awkward being in public but if they're settled it shouldn't be a problem? If your CM can do hols, I would go for it!
