sick pay over holiday period

Hi does anyone know what the position is if you have a nanny off sick covered by a sick note and during the period covered by a sick note there is a Bank Holiday? We do our own payroll and I am not clear whether to pay sick pay or holiday pay for the sick day which was also a Bank Hol (and it does make a difference to the figures for us).

Hope that makes sense.
Thanks

Is your nanny contractually entitled to paid bank holidays or does she take them out of her holiday entitlement?

If the former, I would pay SSP, if the latter I would give her holiday pay (recognising that otherwise she would be entitled to take that paid holiday another time in the year).

she is entitled to public hols in addition to hol entitlement in her contract

Surely, it is still a bank holiday. Otherwise, you'll owe her another holiday some other time.
